先日、大阪万博記念公園へお花見に行きました～ヽ(*^^*)ノ✿
約20名程の方にご参加頂きました♪ありがとうございます♪
少し雨が心配でしたが…
日頃まじめに英語のお勉強しているかいあり♡
お天気に恵まれて、満開の桜を楽しむことができました(*ﾟvﾟ*)✿✿✿
大人たちが昼からビニールシート引いて
ビールにワインにおしゃべり♡おしゃべり♡
最高ですね(*^^*)✿
ESCOでは、定期的にイベントを開催しています♪
昨年は、バーベキュー、京都遠足などなどにみんなで行きました♪
英語でディスカッションするだけでなく、
この様な機会にご参加頂くと、

こんばんは、ESCOのえりかです。
今回も新人さんが来て下さり、にぎやかな例会となりました(^^)v
今回のTOPICはこちらです。

Q3 Is feeling bored good or bad?
Q4 Which of these do you want to try when you feel bored and don’t have much money?

どんな時に退屈と感じるのか？そんな時はどうやって過ごすのか？
そんなお話でした。
みなさん退屈な時はお買い物へ出かけたり、お昼寝をしたり、テレビを見たりと思い思いの時間を過ごされているようでした(^^)v
また日々お仕事が忙しいのか、週末の退屈な時間は貴重！という声も多く聞かれました。
忙しさと退屈、うまくバランスを取って有意義に過ごせたら素敵ですよね☆

TOPIC２は今やなくてはならないスマホがテーマでした。
このドキュメンタリーを見てはっとした方も多いのではないでしょうか？
普段人と話しているとき、きれいな景色を見ているとき、どんな時もスマホが手離せなくなりがちですが
せっかくの素敵な時間、機会を逃してるのかもしれないですね～
私のテーブルではスマホに依存するのは良くないけど、かといってスマホがない生活なんて考えられない！そんな話で盛り上がりました。
さてさて春は何か新しいことを始めたくなる季節ですよね(^^♪
英語は好きだけどなかなか使う機会がない、もっともっと話す機会が欲しい！

自己紹介をしてもらうのですが…
すっっごく緊張しますよね。
私はとても楽しみにしています♪
さて、今回のトピックは話しやすい、面白い内容でした(o^∇^o)ﾉ★
まず。
1st Topic：A bath without water
Questions:)
1. Have you ever thought that you don’t want to take a bath? If your answer is yes, why and when did you think so?
2. Would you like to use DryBath?
3. When/how can we use DryBath in Japan?
4. According to Ludwicks speech why is DryBath packed in a little sachets?
5. Did you know that there are more than 2.5 billion people in the world today that do not have proper access to water and sanitation? What do you think about this situation? Is there anything that you can do for them?
クセのある？英語だと思いましたが、
綺麗な英語を話す人と出会えるのはとってもラッキーなので。
色んな英語を聞けるいい機会だったと思いました！
ただ、Dry bathについては、さすがお風呂の国日本?
での評判はよくないみたい。。
ただ、災害時や介護時など、日本でも必要とする人は多い！
という意見が多かったと思います。
みなさんの綺麗好き度もびっくりだったり…ね（笑）

New Miyazaki tourism ad gets laughs with the incomprehensible dialect of an ancient god

高校生が作ってるとは…知りませんでした！
フランス人がフランス語喋ってるんや。
と思ったら、実は小林市の方言でしたあ。というやつ。
某●曜日から夜更かしをする番組にもなっていたと思います…(6￣ ￣)！
ツーリズムインバウンドが極地化していますので、
地方に、こうやって興味を持ってもらうのは、これから絶対必要ですよね。
それにしても、Discussionの中で、
お年お若めの関西人！東京に行って関西弁を使わない人が多かったことには
私は個人的にすっごくショックで…(・ε・)ﾑｰ
pround of your Kansai-ben!!!
とひたすら叫びました。
個人的意見ですみません。笑
次回も、よりたくさんの方のご意見伺えるのを楽しみにしています＾＾♪

2月20日ワークショップを開催しました。
こんにちは。 ESCOのK2です。
今回は、新人さんが来なく、レギュラーメンバー20数名にて、ディスカッションをしました。
今回のトピックの作成は私がさせていただきました。
トピックは
1st Topic: To rent or to own a property in Japan?
2nd Topic: MIT 2012 Commencement Address
の２つでした。
1st Topic: To rent or to own a property in Japan?
Questions）
1) Do you want to live in the city, a suburb or country side? How about after you get married and have children?
2) Do you like the place where you live? Why or why not? If you could change anything you like, what would you like to change in your house?
3) What do you need to think about before renting or buying a place to live? Do you have any requirements or conditions for your home? What is your priority? Being near a train station, closer to your parents’ home, hospital or school.
4) Is it better to rent or own property? If you want to own your own property, would you prefer to own a brand new or used home?
5) What is your dream home? Do you prefer to live in a house or apartment?
1st Topic は、通常のグループでのディスカッションではなく、1対1でのディスカッションを4回行いました。
やっぱり、グループで話すより、1対1で喋る方がたくさん話せるので、英語を話す練習になりますね。 1対1の形式はこれからも続けるみたいですので、楽しみです。
さて、トピックの内容は、賃貸？持ち家？どっちが得なの？という内容でした。 ESCOは未婚の方が多いのですが、みなさん将来のために色々考えられていて、興味深かったです。
僕が話した人達は、
・独身時＝都会・賃貸生活
・結婚後＝郊外・持ち家
を希望する人が多かったです。
みなさんは、賃貸？持ち家？どちらを選択しますか？
2nd Topic Salman Khan, MIT 2012 Commencement Address
Questions)
1) What was your graduation day like? Do you still remember something from that day? Have a lot of your classmates married each other like MIT students?
2) When you have an argument or quarrel with someone whom you respect, or you care deeply about, what would you do? Are you able to control your ego and pride? Once you have had trouble with very important people. How do you fix the relationship?
3) Salman thinks money is not important compared with your health and relationships. Do you agree with this statement? What is the most important thing in your life?
4) When you’re stressed out what do you do? Do you have any method or techniques to relieve your stress? What do you think of Salman’s advice?
5) How do you deal with people you don’t like or hate? Do you ignore, dismiss or fight with them? Or do you try to empathize with them? What would you do if you need their cooperation?
6）If you are able to go back to the past, how many years ago do you want to go back? Then, what would you do or change there?
もうすぐ、卒業や転勤などのシーズンですので、今回のトピックはTEDではなく、サルマンカーンがMITの卒業式で行ったスピーチを取り上げました。
卒業式でのスピーチと言えば、スティーブ・ジョブスがスタンフォード大学で行った、“Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish”のスピーチが有名ですよね。
でも、このサルマンのスピーチもアメリカではユニークで人気のあるスピーチだそうです。
スピーチのテーマは、「50年後、人生を振り返ったときに後悔のないよう。今から、2度目の人生を与えられたのだと思って、毎日を生きよう！」というものでした。 そして、そのためには、良い人間関係を維持するのが必要みたいで、人間関係に関するアドバイスがいくつかありました。
サルマンやMITの生徒でも、僕らと同じように人間関係に疲れたり、悩んだりするんでしょうね。
僕と話した人は、アメリカ人は自己主張が強いと思っていたので、サルマンの話にはびっくりしていました。
どんな人でも、人間関係がうまくいかない時ってあると思います。そういう時に、今回のスピーチのアドバイスが役に立てば幸いです（笑）
ワークショップ後は懇親会が開かれ、英語についてだけでなく、英語に関係のない話でもワイワイ盛り上がり親睦を深めました。次回も楽しみですね。

さて、先日の例会のトピックは、

でした。

Questions
1）Is your guess about the number of children in the future the same as the speaker’s answer? What’s the reason for your guess?
2) What did the speaker say about the relationship between religions and babies?
3) What are the characteristics of countries where there are high birth-rates?
4) Do you also think the world’s population will reach and stay above the 10 billion mark?
5) What do you think is the most important among the four factors to decrease the number of babies per women?
宗教と出生率ってどんな関係があるのかな？
個人的には、スピーカーのデータの見せ方にも興味を持ちました。
しかもそれがわかりやすく、スピーチを聴き取れなくても、
見せ方というのはこうでなくちゃ、と思えるプレゼンでした（＾ω＾）
2nd TOPIC Supreme Court upholds legality of requiring married couples to use same family name
Questions

2) What do you think about the decision about the period for prohibition of remarriages?

数ヶ月前に話題になったニュースからのトピックでした。
日本では夫婦は同性であるべきという判決でしたが、
アメリカでは（州により法律は異なりますが）、
選択の自由がある中での同姓と、
法律は難しいです・・・(*´Д｀)=з
とまあ、今回は少し難しい内容でしたが、

PART1: Wht yhe best hire might not have the perfect resume

1. If you work in human-resources, what is the most important thing to consider when hiring new people?
2. In Japan, which type of people will find employment more easily, the silver spoon or the scrapper?

今回のTopicは、speakerの意見に反対する人が多い回でした！
やはり、アメリカと日本の仕事や雇用に対する意見は違うのでしょうか？

となりがちな日本のDiscussionの逆流をいけたと思います(^o^)
反対する方が、理由を述べないといけませんもんね～
PART2:The surprising thing I learned sailing solo around the world

事前にTEDを見て、びっくり！すっきり！でした(^o^)♪
ESCOでは、例会の2週間前を目安に次回のTopicが配信され、
予習ができるようになっています(^o^)
予習でTEDをじっくり見て、
（１度では理解できないので私は何度も見て…）
何を話そうかな～
皆さんに何を聞こうかな～と考えます。
予習というと…ちょーーー真面目ハイレベル英会話な感じがしますが♡笑
そんなことありません～
皆さんお忙しい方が多いので、例会に来る電車で急いで見た～
という声もよく聞かれます(^o^)
それでも、楽しく話せる内容になっているので安心です♪

食べ物の話は海外で必ず共通の話題になりますし、
各国・各文化の’UMAMI’の感じ方が全く違うので面白いですよね～
日本の’UMAMI’とは何か、日本食のおいしさを英語で伝える事ができましたか～
日本独特の味の感じ方を、おいしさの感じ方が全く異なる人に伝えるのは
とっても苦労しますよね。
でも、それが伝わった時はHappy stomach♡を共有できる素敵なお友達になれますよねね(#^.^#)
