12月19日ワークショップを開催しました。
こんにちは。 ESCOのK２です。
今年も残すところ、わずかとなりましたね。みなさまいかがお過ごしですか。
さて、ESCOは今年も一度も滞る事なく無事に活動を終了する事ができました。これも、スタッフの方々の尽力やメンバーの皆様の協力があったからだと思います。ありがとうございました。
それでは、今年度最終回、12月19日のワークショップの報告をしますね。
まず、前半はTEDの“The Power of Introverts by Susan Cain”を事前に予習してから以下の質問についてディスカッションしました。

Questions)
Q1: Do you think of yourself as an introvert or extrovert? Why do you think so? If you have both aspects, in which situations are you introvert and which are you an extrovert?
Q2: Have you ever regretted not pursuing something that you really wanted?
Q3: Which one would you rather be: the best talker or a person having the best idea if you had to choose one?
Q4: How do you feel when you go into nature, such as mountains, sea or the like? Can you refresh your mind and get back to nature?
Q5: Do you have items that you always have in your bag or suit case when you go somewhere? If you do, please explain where you bring them and why you need them.
このトピックの質問に内向的なのか外向的なのか尋ねる質問がありましたが、僕の参加したグループではほとんどの人が内向的でした。中には、好きな人や仲がいい人達の前では、外向的なのに、嫌な人の前ではかかわりたくないので内向的になるという、面白い人もいました。個人的には絶対に外向的だと思っていた人が内向的だったりして驚きました。ディスカッションをしていて気づいたのですが、内向的と外向的の基準って人によって全然違うんですよね。メンバーの普段とは違う一面が見れて、楽しかったです。
続いて、 後半は日経ASIAN REVIEWの記事を事前に予習してから以下の質問についてディスカッションしました。

Q3: Have you ever purchased the same products a lot in Japan or abroad? If you did, please explain why?
Q4: Have you ever seen foreigner’s buying items in Japan in bulk? If so, what kind of items did they buy and how did you feel about it?
Q5: According to the article, reactions from Australians to the bulk-buying by Chinese seems to be more radical than that from Japanese. Please share your opinion about why the reactions are so different.
日本では、中国人観光客の買い物は、インバウンド消費・爆買い等と呼ばれ、歓迎されているようですが、オーストラリアや香港では問題になっているようです。 皆さんはどう思いますか？ 僕の参加したグループでは、「オーストラリアは人口が2000万人しかいなく、マーケットが小さいから爆買が問題になる」「中国人は福島原発事故以降、日本の粉ミルクは買わないから大丈夫」等の意見がありました。色んなメンバーでディスカッションをすると普段自分が考えないことを聞けたりしてとても面白いですよ。
今回は今年最後の例会なので、いつもの店ではなく、違う店で忘年会を行いました。色んな業種の方が参加されているので刺激的なお話を聞けたりしてとても楽しかったです！！

12月5日ワークショップを開催しました。

久しぶりのワークショップ報告させて頂きます(*'∀'人)♥*+♪
今回のワークショップでは、ESCO初となる、Debate形式を取り入れました。
新人さんを２名お迎えし(*´∀｀*)♪ 楽しい回になりました♪
12月5日(土)のワークショップは以下のトピックについて行われました。
TOPIC 1 DEBATE
Should we pay for using an ambulance or not?
※if we do, we have to pay a fixed amount whenever we call it
※everyone has the obligation
※those fees will be used by the municipality for general resources not for particular purposes
賛成・反対の各2名ずつのチームを作り、作戦を練りながらDebateを進めました。
いつものFree discussionの形式とは異なり、自分の意見を短時間で主張し、まとめ、伝える。また相手の意見のポイントを正しく理解し、反論するの繰り返しで…
とっても難しいですヽ(ﾟ∀ﾟ)ﾉ!!!
でも、英語で分かりやすく相手に伝える作業は、いつもの何倍も勉強になりました！
いつもより発言の機会も多かったと思います。
ぜひ、またDiscussionに挑戦してみたいです♪

Doggy bagってかわいいネーミングですよね♡
メンバーは様々な国で、様々な文化の人と食事をされている方もいらっしゃるので、日本ではできない変わった体験や、またアメリカで実際にDoggy bagを日常的に活用していた話も面白かったです。
日本でDoggy bagは浸透するでしょうか？
無駄な食料放棄は減らせるでしょうか？
まずは、お腹に入る以上のおいしいそうなものを注文しすぎない所から…

京都に行ってきました！！
今回は秋のイベントとして、京都に遠足に行ってきました（●＾o＾●）
伏見稲荷コースと嵐山コースに分かれて、京都散策を楽しみました♪
観光地として人気の京都ですが、皆で行くと知っている場所も（もちろん初めて行く場所も！）より一層楽しめたのではないでしょうか♪
では、グループごとに回ったコースを少し紹介させて頂きますね(^^♪
伏見稲荷コース
自分で引いた抹茶を自分でたてて飲む！という
心和む一時を過ごしました☆
外国のお友達が日本に来た際はおすすめですよ！
その後、10円玉のデザインにもなっている
平等院鳳凰堂へ！
お庭をゆっくり散歩して、いざ伏見稲荷へ♪♪
辺りが暗くなり始めた頃で、鳥居に灯りが灯り
お昼とはまた違った不思議な世界観を堪能しました(*^^*)

英会話サークルとしての活動も楽しみました☆

Q1: What does the bumblebee decline affect on human life?
Q2:Are there any species decreased by climate change besides bumblebees?
Q3: Do you think human beings help accelerating the climate change? If so, can you stop the acceleration?
Why/why not?
Q4: Can you accept that any other species go extinct by what you do? If you can't, what should you do for them?

今年は太平洋戦争が終戦を迎えて７０年という節目の年です。テレビや映画でもこの戦争がいろいろなかたちで取り上げられています。戦争を直接知らない私たちですが、この機会に英語でディスカッションをおこなってみました。英語が話せるだけでなく、かなり歴史を勉強していないと難しい骨のあるTOPICでしたが、みなさん、なんとかがんばって英語で表現していました。

を取り入れたディスカッションに挑戦しました。内容はこの英会話サークルの今後の運営についてでした。みなさん、英語を使って様々なことに取り組んでみたいようです。出てきたアイディアは参加者のみなさんと共有して、今後もESCOでは様々なことに取り組んでいきます！！
